The PCDC acting program runs
year-round. There are several
different programs to meet a variety of needs, including the very popular
plays.
Stories Alive (Ages 4 –
6) (Ages 6-8)
During this 45-minute program, children are introduced to drama through
familiar stories, which they can act out, using props or simple costumes
that they make and take home.
This is a great introduction to acting. This
course is designed to be taken over and over again, the stories and
props will not be repeated.
Actors Workshop (Ages
6-10) ( Ages 9-15)
Basic acting techniques are covered with ample opportunity for
individual expression and group exercises.
Throughout the course, students will explore vocal expression and
body movement, through games, exercises, and staged readings.
This is offered as a 5-6 hour one day course or as a 4-6 week one hour
course. The Actors Workshop is offered in the Fall ( Sept) and
again in January. Occasionally additional programs are added in
the Spring.
It is therefore strongly recommended
that your child take the Fall or Winter Actors
Workshop if they wish to become a Discovery Center Player
and act in the plays.
Summer programs
(Ages 5-7) (Ages
8-12)
The 5-7's can take half or all day programs and you can choose to
incorporate a 90 minute or a 45 minute drama component.
During the summer, the older children meet at night with the same
options.
PLEASE NOTE:
YOU MUST TAKE AN ACTING COURSE PRIOR TO BECOMING
A DISCOVERY CENTER PLAYER...
ie..SIGNING UP FOR
ANY PLAY.
"THE
PLAYS" (Ages 6-10) ( Ages 9-15)
The Discovery Center Players is an
all child acting troupe. Approximately four plays are performed each year.
