Any child who has a desire to perform onstage in front of an audience
and can read is welcome to become a member of The Discovery Center
Players simply by registering for our Play Workshop.
The Play Workshop allows
children to experience the excitement of being part of a play without
the stress and anxiety that oftentimes goes along with the audition
selection process.
Watching the children’s
enjoyment as they bring their characters to life is our primary goal for
a successful production. Therefore, every effort is made to consider the
child’s preference of character as role assignments are made.
The Play Workshop is held 2-4
times a year. In the winter / spring, rehearsals are comprised of
rehearsals during January, February & March, which are held on a weekly
basis beginning in January. Performances for ages 6-10 are in February
or March and the play for ages 9-15 is performed in April. During the summer,
the play is for ages 6-15 with rehearsals two-three times weekly
at night to allow for children to go to camp or do other day time
activities. The rehearsals run for approximately 5 weeks with performances in July or August.
The Fall production begins with rehearsals in September with
performances in November and is for ages 10-15.
