Philosophy

The mission of the Putnam Children’s Discovery Center Acting Program is to provide children ages 4 - 15 with an exposure to theater in a non-competitive and fun atmosphere at a nominal cost.

Besides our goal of developing a child’s interest in theater, our drama workshops can also spark creativity, provide opportunity for individual expression, develop self-confidence, instill self-discipline, and introduce the practice of group dynamics – meaningful concepts that can be taken with the child into whatever discipline he or she eventually pursues.

Some of the benefits of our acting program are:

  • Small class sizes (average 7:1 student teacher ratio)

  • Frequency of workshop offerings

  • Opportunities for performing at the student’s discretion

  • Teaching facilities conducive to learning and performing

  • Instructors with strong theater experience
